Preparing the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, lightly knead all the ingredients together. Make sure the Vala Bella Rende Rende remains visible in the dough for a rustic texture.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- After resting, fold the dough three times using your elbow or rolling pin, allowing it to rest for 30 minutes between each fold.
- Finally, shape the dough into 100 g portions. Roll them out on the work surface and let them rest for another 30 minutes.
- Gently press the dough with your fingertips as if shaping a pastry. Brush with egg yolk and make shallow cuts with a sharp knife.
- Let the shaped dough rest for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F) and bake for 25 minutes.
Optional:
Before baking, you can add cheese and tomato between the layers for extra flavor.
